Letter to the Speaker
May 30, 2019
Honorable Nancy Pelosi
United States House of Representatives
Washington, D.C.
Dear Speaker Pelosi,
With all due respect to your experience and knowledge, I am writing to urge you to initiate proceedings immediately to impeach Donald J. Trump as President of the United States. According to the Mueller Report, calling the president for his misdeeds is the job of Congress. You are the leader of Congress and I urge you to push this president’s impeachment forward.
I agree that the Senate currently does not have the votes to evict the president from office, but we need to show the world that we are at least trying to do the right thing and not worrying just about politics.
Who knows? The senate may gain knowledge during the impeachment process that will change the vote to one that will evict the president.
In my humble opinion, if Trump gets reelected, it may well lead to the demise of our great nation. You and I need to do all we can to get rid of him as soon as possible.
I am just an ordinary citizen living with my wife of 63 years nearing the end of an 85-year life. I am a life-long Democrat, a Veteran who served nine years of active duty as an Attack Pilot in the Navy, and a patriotic citizen who believes that we deserve a better president than Donald J. Trump. Frankly, I would like to see Pence go out the door with Trump and make you the president but that’s out of the question, I think.
Thanks for your service to our nation and for your strong leadership. I support you no matter what decisions you make.
Sincerely,
Bobby E. Smith
Cdr. USNR
